We believe each DG store and distribution center represents positive economic growth for our communities through the creation of local jobs, as well as opportunities for employee development and career advancement.
We further demonstrate our mission through ardent support of literacy and education. Each year, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation (DGLF) provides the opportunity for schools, nonprofit organizations and libraries within a 15-mile radius of a store or distribution center to apply for grants to support adult, family, summer and youth literacy programs at www.dgliteracy.org. Since its inception in 1993, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation has invested more than $250 million in nonprofit organizations, schools and libraries that have helped more than 21.5 million individuals of all ages to read, prepare for their high school equivalency diploma or learn English.
